In a bid to tackle tax evasion in the State, the Gombe State Government has set up a Tax Recovery Tribunal. Barrister NG reported on its website that the Tribunal was inaugurated by the State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, recently. During the inauguration, the governor charged the tribunal to be fair in their dealings and bring forth the expected increase in the State’s revenue generation.
The governor stated that he hoped that the establishment of the tribunal would curb the incidences of tax evasion, guarantee fairness of the tax system, and enhance taxpayers’ confidence. According to Barrister NG, the tribunal Chairman, Muhammad Jungudo, mentioned that any aggrieved person could now simply approach the tribunal with his complaint and not have to embark on a trip to Bauchi, as was the custom before.
