At an event in Abuja in commemoration of Global Customer Service Week 2022, Nigeria’s apex tax authority, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), unveiled its Service Charter. Johannes Oluwatobi Wojuola, Special Adviser to the FIRS Chairman on Media & Communication, made this known in a recent release. The FIRS Chairman stated that the Service Charter contained the services FIRS renders and is the service agreement, promise and commitment on how FIRS would be rendering services to its esteemed customers. The Charter also contains the expectations of FIRS from taxpayers.
Mr. Nami also used the opportunity to enjoin all taxpaying citizens to be up and doing in their tax obligations. He stated that only then can they demand accountability from the government. He also stated that, “Nigerians are expected to understand that, globally, citizens pay for their own civilization; as most infrastructures and privileges in advanced countries are made possible by the revenue generated through the taxes their citizens pay to the government.”
